Brand: Sean Wotherspoon x atmos x ASICS

Model: GEL-Lyte III

Key Features: The sneaker — which has a mismatched color scheme — features heavy use of corduroy, a material Wotherspoon is no stranger to, having wrapped his Nike Air Max 97/1 in the material in 2018. It has corduroy on its split-tongue throat, as well as on the side panels. The ASICS branding on the sides can be removed via Velcro, adding a layer of customization to the upcoming project.

Release Date: August 7 (pre-release), August 14 (global release), August 20 (EMEA release)

Price: $160 / €180

Buy: Available early via atmos NYC and UBIQ and dropping globally at select retailers (see list below)

Editor’s Notes: Following an initial launch in Japan, Sean Wotherspoon’s highly-customizable ASICS GEL-Lyte III will finally be released globally.

The collaborative GEL-Lyte III, designed in collaboration with atmos and featuring a slew of interchangeable Velcro Tiger stripes and branded patches, arrives in celebration of the silhouette's 30th anniversary. Per atmos, this particular pair draws inspiration from the scenes of Los Angeles and Tokyo. The sneaker will be available in unisex and kids sizes, alongside corduroy tote bags, satchels, and T-shirts in five colors.

Wotherspoon famously released a pair of highly-sought after Air Max 97/1s after his design was chosen as the winner of Nike’s 2017 Vote Forward campaign and saw its first official release on Air Max Day in 2018. Following that, there was speculation that Wotherspoon and Nike had another collaboration up their sleeve, however, the designer and Round Two co-founder later confirmed that the project had been put on ice and that he wouldn’t be collaborating with Nike for a while.

The reason for the change of heart was that Wotherspoon wanted to work with other brands, ASICS being one of them.
