For sacai's Fall/Winter 2022 presentation, something stood out. Of course, the clothes were eye-catching, but the jewelry is what really captured our attention.

Debuting a collaboration with luxury jewelry maker Cartier, created by creative director Chitose Abe and Cartier President and CEO Cyrille Vignero, the show featured a total of six designs merging sacai's aesthetic with the jewelry brand's signature craftsmanship.

Recreating the signature Trinity design, Chitose Abe has re-imagined the classic by taking it apart, and turning its simplicity into modular pieces that stand out, "without ever compromising on elegance," as Cartier put it.

"What changes is the shape and distortion of the rings: their position on the skin and their function," the brand explained.

Ear cuffs, layered rings, and bold earrings are all pieces you wouldn't necessarily expect to see from Cartier, which is why the collaboration is so perfect. There's an exciting element to the collaboration, which opens the door for future partnerships across jewelry and fashion, which is the perfect way to continue to modernize the brand whilst still staying true to its core DNA.

Chitose Abe is a master of applying her own design cues to pre-existing brands, collaborating with brands from Nike on coveted sneakers, to designing Haute Couture for Jean Paul Gaultier, and the Cartier collaboration is no different.

In addition to the jewelry, the sacai collection was also inspired by the iconic Cartier Red, and featured plenty of gowns in deep red velvet, bold jackets, monochrome looks, as well as plenty of red lips. If anything, it really made us dream about purchasing a Cartier piece, and opening that heavy, red box.

The limited-edition collaboration with sacai will be released this summer in Japan, and will later be available at select Cartier locations in Paris, London, New York, and Seoul come fall.
