Roger Dubuis doesn't dabble in watches, it produces "Hyper Horology." Like the hypercar market it aligns itself with, Dubois makes timepieces that aren't even in the same universe as daily drivers: they're painstakingly engineered feats of design that fueled by technology unparalleled (and unnecessary) to that of normal watches.

It's all too fitting that Dubois' latest watch, the $720,000 Excalibur Spider Countach DT/X, is basically a wearable Lambo, both figuratively and in terms of the craft that informs its design.

Part of the Roger Dubois x Lamborghini Squadra Corse collection, the Excalibur Spider Countach DT/X is really the partnership's crown jewel.

It's by far the most expensive and most limited piece on hand — only eight editions were available and, incredibly, they sold out as soon as the watch was announced. It takes all kinds, I suppose.

Inspired by Lamborghini's Countach LPI 800-4, Dubois' Excalibur Spider Countach DT/X — technically known as "RD112" in homage to the 112 Countach LPI 800-4 units — has a super sleek exterior that's all aerodynamic curves and shiny metal, finished in Bianco Siderale (white) to match Ferruccio Lamborghini's personal Countach.

The Excalibur Spider Countach DT/X is quite literally aerodynamic: it incorporates the Countach's "periscopio" roof and NACA intakes into its design.

From the intricate, gravity-compensating movement to the skeleton three-dimensional rubber strap inspired by tire company Pirelli, the Excalibur Spider Countach DT/X really is a perfect match for the Lamborghini that inspired it.

Both designs demand inconceivably exacting levels of engineering know-how, have more technical specs than anyone could ever need, and are long sold out.
