Trying to navigate "sustainable" fashion is a minefield. There are fast-fashion labels greenwashing, so much vague technical language that we've had to create our own guide on it, and the undeniable fact that buying any piece of fashion is an inherently unsustainable practice.

However, when it comes to recycled fabrics things are slightly more straightforward, where designers take old materials and re-uses them. While its rare to see pieces made from 100 percent recycled materials, it's definitely a step in the right direction.

We went shopping for pieces from designers who are using this working method and came back with a long list of fire pieces that you can cop with a reduced guilty conscience. There is an outdated stereotype that sustainably-made clothing is boring and plain, but the designers below such as NOAH, Acne Studios, and Marine Serre use recycled materials and have been proving that is far from the case.

From fine jewelry to technical outerwear, check out our favorite items that are produced from recycled materials. Also, get a jargon-free lowdown on how the materials were made.
