Editor’s Notes: Stefano Pilati's Random Identities and exciting Chinese footwear brand Li-Ning have teamed up for Li-Ning's first ever footwear collaboration, which debuted at Li-Ning's SS20 Paris Fashion Week show.

Berlin-based Pilati looked to two of the city's most integral subcultures: cycling, and the underground club scene. Of the collaboration, Pilati said "I was introduced to Li-Ning in 2017, and I've enjoyed an extended period of observation, interaction, and an open exploration of possibilities.... Thanks to the openness and trust of the Li-Ning team, I can say I am very proud of the results. I am equally satisfied with our creative dialogue and working relationship. Which means this could be considered the beginning of something more.”

As for the Aurora itself, it was first released in 2004 as a running shoe for the Athens Olympics. The 2019 version keeps its running roots in tact, but with a cycling inspiration thanks to the streamlined design with elastic lace. The LED light on the tongue is fairly unobtrusive until it's turned on.
