What We’re Saying: Nike has teamed up with Dutch artist Parra for a collaborative partnership surrounding the Tokyo Olympics. In addition to designing the Nike SB team kits for the inaugural skateboarding events, he has also whipped up a coinciding Dunk Low.
The Dunk Low Pro "Abstract Art," as the colorway is being called, was first teased months back. Since then, we've come across multiple sets of images, including on-foot pics courtesy of sneaker insider @yankeekicks. Now, with the 2020 Olympics just days away, Nike has shared official photos of the pair, along with a July 31 release date.
Parra's forthcoming Dunk Low features a bold print with wavy geometrics and swirling color, largely mimicking the scheme showcased in many of the recent works on his Instagram page. The design also coordinates with the aforementioned uniforms for Nike SB's Olympic skate team. The colorful pattern is showcased on the mudguard, eyestays, heel, heel tab, and tongue trim, surrounded by an off-white nubuck base. Swoosh branding is present on the side of the shoe and at the toe, while Parra's logo is applied to the heel.
Parra's 2021 Dunk Low will serve as a followup to his 2019 collab on the silhouette. He also previously worked on the Air Max 1 and Air Zoom Spiridon. Look for the new pair to arrive roughly one week after the opening ceremony for the Tokyo Olympics.
