Double Tap to Zoom

Take away the viral stunts and celebrity cameos, and Fashion Month presented us with a surprisingly wearable wardrobe for Fall/Winter 2023. That wasn't the case when it came to beauty, though.

Picking up where Milan left off, the City of Light kept us guessing with avant-garde takes on hair and makeup, from bloodshot eyes at Undercover to post-sex hair at Miu Miu. Keep reading for our favorite beauty moments from Paris Fashion Week FW23 and while you're here, check out the boldest looks from New York and Milan.

Horrorcore at Undercover

From afar, the models at Undercover appeared to be crying blood, a macabre take on emotive beauty. But a closer look revealed that the bloody tears were actually spiky red eyelashes, created and applied by makeup artist Uda Kesho. Set against pale, powdered skin, the scarlet-rimmed eyes made a ghoulish statement.

Forest face paint at Acne Studios

The verdant beauty at Acne Studios matched the show's set, an enchanted forest outfitted with glittering trees. One model served as a walking canvas, his face, torso and arms painted with an idyllic nature scene that looked straight out of a Bob Ross painting.

Logo belly buttons at Courrèges

The navel took center stage at Courrèges, where creative director Nicolas Di Felice framed innies and outies with circular cut-outs on sheer tops and dresses. Throwing it back to the early 2000s, models' belly buttons were further accessorized with faux piercings — tiny earrings with the Courrèges logo dangling off of them.

Steampunk skin at Off-White™

At Off-White™, Isamaya Ffrench translated creative director Ib Kamara's sartorial take on space-age Afrofuturism to beauty by applying the collection's shiny hardware to the face, head, and hair. The result? Covered in silver cogs, models appeared half-human, half-robot.

Fashionable flyaways at Miu Miu

Actor Mia Goth opened the Miu Miu show in a look that perfectly encapsulated Miuccia Prada's quietly seductive take on corporate officewear: a cardigan paired with a sheer, low-rise skirt, kitten heels, and a simple updo accented with a crown of frizzy flyaways. If hair stylist Guido Palau was trying to replicate the mussed look of post-sex hair, he nailed it.
