You Can Cop the Off-White™ x Nike Air Jordan 5 for Retail Again
If you haven't been able to get your hands on a pair of Virgil Abloh's Off-White™ x Nike Air Jordan 5s, you now have another chance thanks to JUICE Hong Kong. The retailer is currently holding a raffle for the coveted sneaker, running from today, March 26, until Friday, March 27.
Those interested can register online, as each customer is allowed one entry. Winners will be allocated by a silent raffle after fulfilling the criteria for entry. Those who are chosen will be notified via email with details of a pick up date and time at JUICE Causeway Bay in Hong Kong. International winners will in turn be charged a shipping fee of $40.

Key Features: Abloh’s take on the Nike Air Jordan 5 features a synthetic ripstop upper with a fully-reflective silver tongue and circular windows around the mid panel and ankle collar. The material on the upper looks similar to the Hyperfuse material Nike used on its basketball silhouettes in the early to mid 2010s. The sneakers also arrive with the customary zip-tie and Off-White™ text branding.

There were talks of Foot Locker hosting a first come first served Chicago sale, but after the backlash on Twitter, whether this actually happens remains to be seen.

In a new interview with Nike, Virgil Abloh has shared new insights into the design of his forthcoming Nike Air Jordan 5.
The idea ties back to the first Air Jordan that Abloh ever owned, the "Black Metallic" Air Jordan 5, which he convinced his parents to buy for him. “My parents were like, ‘I don’t get it. What’s the big deal?’” notes Virgil. “For me, it was like they came from a superhero. I was sleeping with the shoes in my bedroom, on the dresser, so I could see them when I woke up.”
Circular holes in the upper of the sneaker differentiate Abloh's version from the Jordan 5 that Michael Jordan wore. This is Abloh's way of riffing on air, and how air can be represented through product design. “I’m still enamored by the idea of Nike Air,” Abloh mentions. “Nike did a survey around the world, and in some places, people had the impression that Nike Air is more pure than actual air.” This interpretation of air is present on the Off-White™ x Air Jordan 5 sneaker itself, and the accompanying packaging box.
“I came up with this new language, which is having these holes through everything,” Virgil explains. “You know, the same air that’s outside is in the product. So that’s why there are holes in the box, too.”
But for Abloh, a born-and-raised Chicagoan, Michael Jordan's larger-than-life legacy is part of the fabric of this latest collaboration.
“During the ‘90s, I was the kid watching Jordan on TV, and I never thought I would be able to do one of his shoes, let alone add anything to them,” summarizes Abloh. “MJ was a man who became a superhero. He was jumping from the free throw line, winning six championships, doing the impossible. In design, I feel like I’m at my best if I can almost mirror how impossible those tasks were.”
