Oakley Factory Team, a diffusion line created by the streetwear label Brain Dead and Oakley, has produced futuristic-looking footwear since its inception in 2022.

Each seasonal collection from the brand looks like it could've been sent to Earth by a time traveler from a far-away future and its spring/summer 2024 drop continues that theme. Or, in the words of Oakley Factory team, its newest collection is: “An exploration of uncharted territories and vibrant palettes inspired by techno-utopian landscapes.”

Bringing back favorites from past Oakley Factory Team collections, such as its squishy foam mules and flesh sandals, new makeovers are brought to the brand’s unconventional sneaker designs.

Metallic overlays, pastel hues, and what looks like ostrich leather are all on the menu for Oakley Factory Team’s SS24 selection.

However, what is most striking about the collection is what is missing: there are no laces to be seen.

I have long been a loud advocate of slip-on sneakers, whether that be technical outdoor shoes or the current boom in foam mules being released, and Oakley Factory Team has been at the center of it all.

The majority of its sneakers skip the tangly inconvenience of laces and SS24 sees Oakley Factory Team double down on its advocacy of a lace-free life.

Hot on the heels of the release of its technical new sneakers and function-focused outdoor wear from its Field Gear Line, this release continues Oakley's focus on futuristic designs.
