Editor's Notes: "Eat my shorts!" Without even thinking, you read that catchphrase and Bart Simpson's high-pitched bratty voice rings between the ears, and suddenly, you're transported back into your favorite episode of The Simpsons.

First aired in 1989, the yellow-skinned family of misfits has graced global screens for a generation and, in an insane total of 33 seasons, has amassed the following and fame needed to make it a cultural powerhouse.

There are few franchises and brands that haven't cherry-picked the animated show's rich history for merchandising or promotional opportunities – truly, it's a goldmine.

Though Balenciaga is certainly the most prominent contemporary example of how the titular characters still possess the power to spark a media frenzy, Nike SB has shown a keen love for the animation's characters over the years.

Beginning in 2004, Nike SB dropped the first of its Simpson-themed Dunks, with the Dunk Low "Homer," followed by the Dunk High "Marge," in 2008. Each pair's palette reflected the clothing of its namesake's character, providing some pretty heavy contrasts.

Now, 14 years later, it's the turn of the family's mischievous son, Bart, to get Dunkified. Decked out with "Habanero Red" and "Blue Hero" leather overlays on a yellow leather base, the pair mirrors the character perfectly, creating a sneaker best described as a statement.

Following such a long hiatus, perhaps the return suggests the remaining members of the titular family, or even some of the extended cast, could be making their way to SB – which, like it or not, means more Dunks.
