Nike & Matthew M Williams Are Back & We're Not Mad About It
With three successful drops behind them, Nike and Matthew M Williams are readying for another. Comprising of co-ed sportswear — executed in all-black, natch — and that inimitable Nike Zoom MMW 4 "Triple Black," the duo's new lineup of sporty ninja garb is clearly well within their comfort zone, though there are plenty of spiffy new details to enliven the affair.
The women's top, bodysuit, and leggings and men's jacket, T-shirt, and pants all feature some kind of multi-purpose construction, meaning that there's more than meets the eye with these high-tech garms. The men's jacket, for instance, incorporates Nike's PreCool Vest into a zip-off design (convertible clothing really is having a moment) that shifts between short and long sleeves, cropped and full-length, without minimizing the usefulness of the many pockets, reflective accents, or hood with attached "鍛練"-printed gaiter. If you're wondering what those Japanese Kanji mean, take a wild guess: they're pronounced "Tanren," which translates to "training."
3-in-1 designs are especially prevalent in this range; Williams infuses women's tops and men's pants with weather-fighting tech, sweat-wicking linings, and even more convertibility. Heck, even the lowest-tech items on hand — the T-shirts — boast anatomical seams and ultra-breathable textiles to ensure seasonal comfort. Genderless double-layered socks and a transformable cap match the apparel's branding and functional zest.
Both the Nike Zoom MM4 "Triple Black" ($450) and accompanying MMW apparel line launch on Nike's website and select stockists on May 27.
