LeBron James and Nike made a big statement on December 17, 2017, when the NBA star took to the court wearing his now iconic mismatched “Equality” Nike LeBron 15 sneakers. Less than a year on, James has now donated his game-worn pair to the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture, where they will be displayed in the museum’s sports gallery this fall.

The museum announced the donation at an event on Tuesday night, which was attended by 59 students from across the U.S. attended. The event was part of a two-day experience that included a tour of Washington D.C.

LeBron James could not be there due to the opening of his new school, however, he took the time to film a video for the kids who attended the event. Watch it below.

The player edition sneaker was originally released on February 26 as part of a Nike raffle. All proceeds benefited the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. With over $60,000 people participating, the raffle raised $457,780.
