Napapijri Waits For No One
For the fashion forward, it’s something we might not always think about. New jacket for a new season? Fab! But what will this piece look like in the future, once it’s transcended newness, evolved from “so last season” and entered its final—and perhaps most important—form: vintage.
Napapijri’s Fall/Winter 2024 collection, “Future Heritage,” is an exciting exploration of embracing pieces which stand perfectly at the middle of past, present, and future. Few brands manage to strike a balance between honoring their roots and embracing the future as well as Napapjri. So it's only natural that as the brand dives deep into its archives this season, it's emerging with a collection that seamlessly fuses retro nostalgia with contemporary innovation.
Napapijri has always been synonymous with adventure, and the FW24 collection takes this legacy to new heights. The pieces are tailored for those who move fluidly between city streets and mountain trails, blending functionality with high design.
Take the Rainforest Tech jacket, for instance. This minimalistic outerwear marvel combines sleek lines with high-performance materials like laminated ripstop Cordura® and waterproof membranes. It’s as practical as it is stylish, designed for modern explorers who demand versatility without sacrificing aesthetics.
But the hero product for this line and Napapijri as a whole is their famous Skidoo jacket. First introduced as a rugged, functional staple, the Skidoo has been reimagined into two distinct styles for FW24. The Hyper-Puffer is an oversized, quilted wonder with a futuristic silhouette that feels as though it’s stepped out of a design studio in 2050. In contrast, the Skidoo Archive takes a more reflective approach, reviving the jacket’s classic Cordura® fabric and adding a tactile twist with thick, curly wool.
Bold experimentation versus reverence for tradition runs through the entire collection. Other archival pieces like the Equipe and Yupik fleeces are similarly reborn, now made with sustainably sourced materials like RWS-certified wool. These updates demonstrate how thoughtful design can breathe new life into familiar forms without compromising on authenticity.
The campaign for FW24 is more than a showcase of clothes; it’s a tribute to human relationships. Shot in London by Davit Giorgadze, it features actress and singer Patsy Kensit alongside her son, Lennon Gallagher, musician and model. This collaboration is significant not only because it’s their first time working together but because their bond encapsulates the themes of generational harmony and shared history.
For FW24, Napapijri leans into its alpine heritage, injecting a retro mountain vibe into contemporary fashion. Curly fleeces, vibrant puffers, and graphic knits all pay homage to the brand’s outdoor roots while maintaining a modern edge.
The balance between nostalgia with forward facing design is one of the more notable motifs of a collection that prides itself on being both infinitely timeless yet steeped in brand heritage. The shapes feel familiar, but the bold colors and innovative materials make them undeniably fresh. This ability to modernize tradition is what sets Napapijri apart in a crowded market.
Brand President Silvia Onofri—who we caught up with at the same time last year—explains that the collection is a reflection on Napapijri’s journey. “By looking back at our archive, we can fully appreciate the distance travelled... to propose a fresh take on lifestyle fashion.”
This philosophy is evident in every stitch of the FW24 collection. It’s a reminder that fashion isn’t just about keeping up with trends; it’s about creating something timeless, something that resonates across generations. As the brand continues to innovate, it challenges us to think differently about what heritage means. It’s not static; it’s alive, evolving with every season.
