Kylian Mbappé Is Still the World’s Most Valuable Football Player
Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappé has retained his title as the world’s most valuable footballer, according to CIES Football Observatory’s biannual transfer value list. His value of $294 million has not changed since the last ranking was announced in January.
Joining the 21-year old in the top five are four English players: Raheem Sterling ($221 million), Jadon Sancho ($203 million), Trent Alexander-Arnold ($194 million), and Marcus Rashford ($173 million). The last two replace Liverpool duo Mohammed Salah and Sadio Mané, who were both in the top five in January and have slipped to sixth and seventh respectively this time.
Of the top ten players, five are English and six play in the Premier League. Two play in Germany’s Bundesliga, while France’s Ligue 1 and Spain’s LaLiga are represented by one player each. Cristiano Ronaldo has dropped to 70th, which is mainly due to his advanced age at 35, while arch-rival Lionel Messi is 22nd but still worth over $100 million.
