Highsnobiety

Major League Baseball’s first-ever European games have finally arrived in London, and Highsnobiety is on the ground covering the London Yards baseball festival as fans gear up for the historic MLB London Series 2019.

Featuring two of the sport’s most storied franchises—and rivalries—the New York Yankees and the Boston Red Sox are set to duke it out tonight at London Stadium, which took a remarkable feat of engineering to convert into a proper baseball field.

But before fans hit the stands, day one of MLB’s London Yards festival in Shoreditch saw a surprising amount of Brits rocking with both teams as well as diehard Americans who flew across the pond just to witness the rivalry firsthand.

With our own Noah Thomas on the ground, check out what Brits had to say about baseball coming over to Europe, if pizza in London can actually be better than a NY slice (spoiler alert: it came close), and Londoners imitating their best NY/Boston accent.

While day one of London Yards is a wrap, you can still hit the festival today and Sunday at Truman Brewery to catch all the action along with a free live-screening of the series for those who can’t make it to the games. General admission will be available at the door.
