There's one week to go before the release of Netflix's Maniac, a brain-bending sci-fi show directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga and starring Jonah Hill and Emma Stone. To get us in the mood, the streaming platform has released a new trailer for the series — one in which the two leads' "cosmic connection" starts to become apparent. Watch above.

The new promo is the second proper look at the show — not including the teaser that dropped in July — and whisks us deeper into the world of experimental mind-trickery. The story follows a clinical study gone awry, and sees Hill and Stone's characters — Owen and Annie — traversing different worlds and boasting a series of bonkers outfits while they're at it.

Of course, this isn't the first time Stone and Hill have co-starred in something, but don't expect any Superbad feels here. Fukunaga is one of the masterminds behind True Detective and the It reboot, after all.

Maniac is a 10-part series and hits Netflix on September 21. Will you be watching? Let us know in the comments.

In other Jonah Hill news, critics have been praising his directorial debut 'Mid90s.'
