Today Lionsgate shares the first trailer for its new comedy starring Seth Rogen and Charlize Theron, Long Shot. From director Jonathan Levine, Long Shot sees Theron playing Secretary of State Charlotte Field, while Rogen is a struggling journalist named Fred Flarsky.

When Field embarks on her journey to become the first female President of the United States, she hires Flarsky to enhance her speeches. There's just one issue, though, Charlotte babysat Fred when they were younger, leaving them with a rather odd relationship. Over time, Charlotte and Fred become close, to the point where romantic feelings come into play.

Speaking on Long Shot, Rogen revealed that the film somewhat correlates with our current political climate, but it isn't a direct response to Trump.

“We wanted to make a movie that acknowledged the political realities we all live in without trying to make too heavy-handed directives, and at the same time make something that’s highly enjoyable and highly entertaining that appeals to as wide an audience as anything I’ve made,” he told Entertainment Weekly.

Alongside Rogen and Theron, Alexander Skarsgard, Bob Odenkirk, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Andy Serkis, June Diane Raphael, Ravi Patel and Randall Park also feature in Long Shot, which is due in theaters May 3.
