A favorite spring staple among Highsnobiety staffers is the chino. It’s an alternative to denim (but just as versatile) and an easy piece to build a ‘fit around when transitioning into warmer weather. But finding the right pair can be tricky. We’re not talking about the formal variety, but ones that feel perfectly broken-in on the first wear.

Enter the Levi’s® XX Chino, which meets our criteria for a dependable spring chino that’s likely way cooler (and softer) than the ones your dad wore. But don't take our word for it, just check out how R&B singer Khalid is rocking them. Not only will they develop a unique look and feel over time the more you wear them, but the line offers two types of stretch — Soft Stretch and Wonderknit — depending on how much stretch you like.

They’re also unique in that Levi’s® developed custom fits for the chinos that live outside the brand’s traditional Lot Number system — they worked from the ground up and based their designs off dozens of fittings and interviews to get it right. The Levi’s® XX Chino line includes three different fits: the Standard Taper, the Slim Taper, and the Straight Cropped. The latter features a center front crease, which is a nice detail and lends itself to more of a fashion point of view, while the Standard Taper offers slightly more room than the Slim Taper.

In addition to the fits, there's also a great range of color options. If you're looking for khaki, there are several shades to choose from. And if you're looking for color, the Levi’s® XX Chino drop offers washes that are garment dyed to help achieve that broken-in look we love.

Of course, if unseasonably warm weather calls for even less coverage, they thought ahead and produced the Levi’s® XX Chino Taper Fit Shorts. It features all the same benefits as the Levi’s® XX Chino and comes in two tie-dye washes that’ll easily carry you into summer.
