It's been revealed Kim Jones will join Fendi to design its women’s ready-to-wear. Jones will assume his new position while remaining at the creative helm of Dior Men.

Jones's title is artistic director of haute couture, ready-to-wear, and fur collections for women. He will work closely alongside Silvia Venturini Fendi, who has headed up said side of the business alone following the passing of Karl Lagerfeld Lagerfeld last year.

Posting on Instagram, the designer shared his delight at the news:

“Kim Jones is a great talent and since joining, he has continuously proven his ability to adapt to the codes and heritage of the LVMH houses while revisiting them with great modernity and audacity,” said Bernard Arnault, chairman and chief executive officer at LVMH, in a press release. “At Fendi, I am convinced that his vision and passion will highly contribute to the success of the women’s collections.”

It's been a while since Jones worked on womenswear — not since 2004, in fact — and he joins a rare group of creative directors to preside over two massive houses (including, of course, Lagerfeld, who split his time between Chanel and Fendi). Before the Brit joined Dior Men, he worked in similar positions at Louis Vuitton and Dunhill, as well as presiding over his own label. He is widely regarded as one of the driving forces behind the melding of streetwear and luxury, and has set a new bar for artistic collaborations.
