It looks like the beef between Kanye West and Jimmy Kimmel is officially squashed. The rapper rejoined the late night host on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and the conversation bounced from topic to topic — from West's "creative journeys," to Trump, to his PornHub preferences ("a lot of black on white, obviously").

Talking about what it was like to break expectations and support Trump, West explained, "As a musician, African American, guy out in Hollywood, all these different things — everyone around me tried to pick my candidate for me." He elaborated these people "then told me every time I said I liked Trump that I couldn't say it out loud or my career would be over, or I'd be kicked out the black community because we're supposed to have a monolithic thought — we can only be Democrats and all that."

West went on to clarify that after he came out of hospital (where he was treated for a mental breakdown), he'd lost a lot of confidence and was worried about the potential backlash, should he open about supporting the president. However, he looked at Trump's general approach —  which to West seems to represent the inability to be bullied — and took inspiration from that. "If I'm afraid to be me then I'm no longer Ye," he stated.

When Kimmel asked what made West think that Trump cares about black people, however, the rapper did not have an answer. He did poke fun at himself, however, acknowledging his reputation for saying outlandish things to the media, he quipped,  "Can you imagine me talking to my publicist before going on TV again?"
