What We’re Saying: Months ago, KANGHYUK shared a first look at the brand’s upcoming collaboration with longtime partner Reebok. The sneaker is a mid-height version of the duo’s highly popular KANGHUK x Reebok Premier Road Modern and features the same design elements across the upper, albeit with an extended ankle collar. After initially surfacing in a baby blue colorway, the shoe has since emerged in a red and white iteration that closely mimics the aforementioned “Car Part” Premier Road Modern from 2020.
The Reebok Premier Road Modern, designed by rising footwear designer Evan Belforti, has been one of Reebok’s most popular silhouettes over the past year. It launched via a collaboration with the South Korean brand but has seen several stylish mainline colorways drop as well.
This latest KANGHYUK collaboration is the first time we’ve seen the silhouette in a mid-top design — and it works. The sneaker is a bulky take on ’00s running shoes and heavily inspired by Belforti’s love for video games and what he calls a nerdier time of footwear design.
KANGHYUK has announced that the red and white rendition will be available for pre-order beginning July 9. Those who successfully snag a pair can expect them to ship from March 2022.
