Even in Shrunken Mode, the Legendary “Rookie” Jordan 1 Looks Really Good
It's another big year ahead for Nike. On top of handling the usual Swoosh business of all-new Nike models, its Jordan Brand imprint celebrates 40 years of life and endless epic sneakers. Sneakerheads like myself have been hyped about the anniversary festivities since last year, with alludes to tons of iconic returns and fresh colorways for 2025.
Amongst the stacked lineup, the Jordan Brand is expected to resurrect the legendary "Rookie of the Year" Jordan 1, but this time in low-top form.
The Air Jordan 1 Low "Rookie of the Year" features the same classic colorblocking of tannish brown, creamy white, and black as seen on the 2018 Jordan 1 Highs. However, the 2025 sneakers come in a low-slung format that welcomes a breeze to the ankles.
The OG Jordan 1s often follow these straightforward palettes, making even the most basic colors look great against incredibly nice constructions. The Rookie of the Year is proof, as pleasing fall-worthy hues top velvety textures and luxe-level leather uppers.
The highly tasteful design seemingly nods to His Airness' dapper suede look worn when accepting the Rookie of the Year Award in 1985, the same year the Air Jordan 1 and, thus, the Jordan Brand debuted. It makes perfect sense for the fashion-y colorway to make a comeback for the milestone anniversary.
According to sneaker leakers, the Air Jordan 1 Low "Rookie of the Year" looks to release around April at Nike. The sneakers will join other models like the "Black Toe" Jordan 1 Low and the gorgeous "Cranes" Jordan 1 Low by Rui Hachimura for some of the biggest Jordan releases of the year.
An old quote says, "when they go low, we go high." But IDK. In the case of these really good-looking Jordans, maybe going low isn't such a bad thing.
