On December 11, Tiffany & Co. released its history-making collaboration with Patek Philippe. The watchmaker's Nautilus Ref. 5711 had received a "Tiffany Blue" face – and then it re-sold at $6.5 million just days after the drop.

The limited-edition collaboration celebrates Patek Philippe's 170-year anniversary, and therefore, only 170 pieces exist. The watch initially retailed at $52,635, and was offered to VIP clients. One of them is now on the wrist of Jay-Z.

After being photographed promoting Netflix movie The Harder They Fall (which he has a production credit in!), fans quickly noticed that the rapper was wearing the exclusive watch, immediately speculating that he could have been the buyer who spent $6.5 million on the timepiece.

As wild as that would be, it is highly unlikely.

Earlier this year, Jay-Z became a Tiffany & Co. ambassador alongside his wife (and our queen) Beyoncé, and the couple starred in a handful of campaigns – Bey even wore Tiffany jewelry for her Harper's Bazaar covers. This means that Hov was most likely allocated one of the 170 pieces by the Tiffany team (shoutout Alexandre Arnault) or, wait for it, received an early Christmas present from the jewelry maker.

At the end of the day, even if Jay did have to buy the watch for $6.5 million, that is pocket change for a guy who's got a net worth of $1.4 billion.

Regardless of how Jay-Z ended up with the watch, he flexed the Nautilus Ref. 5711 next to Jeymes Samuel, and was snapped by Alex Todd, sending fans into a frenzy.

Now, all we're keeping an eye out for are the remaining 169 watches – and their owners. Until we find them, we're just going to have to think about the fact that Jay-Z is wearing $6.5 million on his wrist.
