HIGHArt is Highsnobiety's ode to all things artistic. From our “museum store” pop up in Miami, a print magazine, and exclusive content and product with collaborators like Chito, Honey Dijon, Parra, Matt McCormick and more, we’re going deep on the art world. Explore HIGHArt here.

Futura's abstract street art has led the artist on a journey from tagging New York Subways to being represented in top galleries, working across a multitude of disciplines, and being a prolific collaborator on a range of products. His experiments with color, spray paint, and sci-fi-inspired motifs have been adapted to suit everything from fine art painting to graphic design while keeping their street-art sensibilities.

Few figures have managed to exist in the grey area between fashion and art as he has. Having created his own label called Futura Laboratories in 1997, the multi-disciplinary artist has joined forces with a host of people in the fashion world, from COMME des GARÇONS to Uniqlo to Supreme. When curating a platform based around the collision of fashion and art, it was obvious we needed to include Futura.

Providing a deep dive into Futura's world, this zine not only presents the work of the renowned artist but also includes him answering questions from his contemporaries. For example, the record producer Pedro Winter quizzes Futura on his stance on the new world and its technological developments while photographer Karl Hab is curious about what France means to the artist.

Since he started as one of the original spray painters in 70s New York, Futura has drawn the attention of cultural icons from a range of disciplines, working with British punk band The Clash and exhibiting alongside Jean-Michel Basquiat. His continued ability to align with cultural thought leaders is shown in this zine as excerpts from his associates, collaborators, and admirers include words from the late Virgil Abloh to KAWS and more.

This publication was first conceived during an exhibition of Futura's work at La Fab gallery, a photograph of the sign for which is featured on the front page. While setting up the exhibition, the curator Hugo Vitrani, artist SKKI©, and publisher Thibault Choay brought together their many talents to create a printed shrine to Futura's work. It's the book that your coffee table is screaming out for.
