Facebook is finally making it easier for users to limit their use of the app. The company has announced a brand new feature called "Quiet Mode," which mutes notifications and lets you schedule a social media break.

As more people turn to the app while social distancing, Facebook's new update is an attempt to minimize screen time. The new feature allows you to schedule for when you want Facebook to be available and when you want the app to be “quiet.” When Quiet Mode is activated, the app mutes incoming notifications and, much like Apple’s Screen Time controls, showcases a message discouraging users from launching the app.

To enable Quiet Mode, go to your settings menu on Facebook and click on “Your Time on Facebook." From there select "Manage your time," where you can schedule Quiet Mode. If you still try to use the app while quiet mode is enabled, you’ll get a reminder that the feature is on, along with a timer, though you can opt to disable or bypass the feature for 15 minutes.

“As we all adjust to new routines and staying home, setting boundaries for how you spend your time online can be helpful. Whether it’s to help you focus on your family and friends, sleep without distraction or manage how you spend your time at home, we have tools that can help you find the right balance for how you use Facebook,” the company wrote of the update.
