Virgil Abloh's Evian Bottle Is Finally Dropping in the US
Virgil Abloh joined Evian months ago as Creative Advisor for Sustainable Design, as the company aims to be a 100% circular brand by 2025. Accounting for his inaugural project, the designer worked on the Evian by Virgil Abloh x SOMA glass water bottle, officially recognized as the “One Drop Can Make a Rainbow” collection, which debuted at New York Fashion Week.
“The notion that one drop of water can create a rainbow served as the inspiration and metaphor to drive my first project as Evian’s Creative Advisor for Sustainable Innovation Design,” says Abloh. “As light refracts through that droplet, it reveals its full polychromatic potential. We don’t see just water, we see infinite possibilities and inspiration for anyone. Everyone.”
The range includes a shatter-resistant and refillable SOMA glass water bottle, featuring an easy grip protective silicone sleeve and a leak-proof natural bamboo cap, as well as a collectable limited edition glass bottle. The 75cl bottle adorns perfectly formed water drops in a range of arresting colors.
Following multiple releases, Evian is hosting a special Drip Drop event on May 9, making Virgil Abloh’s limited edition glass bottle available for the first time in the United States. Taking place in New York City, those in attendance will be able to snag one of the bottles for free while supplies last. Customers will also have the opportunity to win exclusive prizes including a refillable SOMA bottle from the same collection and a collectible glass bottle signed by Virgil himself.
Located at 393 Broadway in New York, the Evian Drip Drop event is open to the public May 9 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. EST.
Furthermore, those hoping to land a bottle can also participate in a scavenger hunt in New York City, courtesy of SOMA. The collection can be found at major tourist destinations throughout the city, beginning at 12 p.m. EST on May 10. You'll want to check SOMA's Instagram for clues to where the bottles are located. Once you find a bottle with the “Congrats! You Found Me” sign, you'll need to take a photo with the bottle, then it's yours.
