Key Features: New Balance is releasing two versions of its popular 997 model, each of which takes inspiration from Greek mythology.  The 997 “Perseus” features a black and cool gray suede upper, accented by iridescent sections on the tongue, logo and frontal piping. The 997S “Medusa” flaunts a vibrant color scheme, with teal and yellow notes together with iridescent quarters.

Release Date: April 17

Price: $230 and $220

Buy: Exclusively at DTLR

Editor’s Notes: New Balance has looked to Greek mythology for its latest pack of 997 sneakers, giving DTLR the exclusive rights to drop both versions. The dark 997 takes inspiration from the greatest Greek hero and slayer of monsters before the days of Hercules.

The sportier 997S is inspired by his most famous opponent and casualty. The monstrous Medusa was a Gorgon distinguished by the living venomous snakes in place of her hair.
