Stüssy, Bottega Veneta, Nike, Rick Owens… Dover Street Market Unleashes 80+ Collabs
Dover Street Market, the pioneering fashion retailer masterminded by Comme des Garçons founder Rei Kawakubo, is ending its 20-year anniversary celebrations with a bang.
The store has seemingly gone through its entire contacts list and drafted everybody to join the celebrations. By my calculations, it’s unleashing a massive 80+ collaborations for an end-of-year, 20th-anniversary extravaganza.
Dover Street Market is known to release a lot of collaborations, however, the scale of this collection is unprecedented.
The company has gone into collaboration overdrive.
The extent of each brand's involvement in DSM’s big birthday bash can be split into two categories. On the one side, 17 brands offer DSM anniversary items, and on the other, there is a far more extensive list of labels creating one-of-a-kind, customized T-shirts and tote bags.
So, starting with the anniversary collections. A few of them we’ve already been introduced to, such as Nike’s glowing Vomero sneaker and Stone Island's reissued limited-edition jackets from 20 years ago.
Joining this pack is another limited edition sneaker, an On Cloudbood Zone running shoe, and more techy outerwear from 20 years ago, this time with The North Face which is reissuing its best items from 2004 with DSM branding.
More highlights from the 17 different anniversary collections include Levi’s Made in San Francisco 505 jeans, Barbour x Noah, Undercover x DSM, Diemme boots… there are too many to mention, and that’s not even half of it.
There are 70+ brands also making custom tees and tote bags for DSM, only available in-store: Ann Demeulemeester, Bottega Veneta, Chrome Hearts, FKA Twigs, Martine Rose, Our Legacy, Palace, Pet Shop Boys, Rick Owens, Slawn, Stüssy… it’s a who’s who of musicians, artists, and brands from all walks of life.
Everything will be released on December 12 at 11 am, in-store at Dover Street Market London (you’re permitted to start queuing from 9 am, FYI). And the anniversary collections will also be available online.
If nothing else, the scale and breadth of collaborators DSM has brought together shows the scale of its influence. I can’t name any other shop able to wheel out a bumper cast of collaborators like this for its 20th birthday.
