David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, the showrunners behind Game of Thrones, have just inked a $200 million multi-year deal with Netflix, reports The Hollywood Reporter. The pair will develop new TV and movie projects for the streaming giant, leaving behind their longtime gig at HBO.

"We are thrilled to welcome master storytellers David Benioff and Dan Weiss to Netflix," the streaming platform's chief content officer Ted Sarandos told THR. "They are a creative force and have delighted audiences worldwide with their epic storytelling. We can’t wait to see what their imaginations will bring to our members."

In a joint statement, Benioff and Weiss thanked HBO for supporting their work for more than a decade, before saying that they'd begun bonding with various key Netflix personnel over ’80s content. Perhaps a sign we'll be seeing something in the vein of Stranger Things down the line.

"We remember the same shots from the same ’80s movies; we love the same books; we’re excited about the same storytelling possibilities," the showrunners said. "Netflix has built something astounding and unprecedented, and we're honored they invited us to join them."

Benioff and Weiss are also set to pen Disney's next Star Wars movie, which is slated for a 2022 release.
