There are few men in the world who can wear a pair of sunnies as well as David Beckham, so it feels long overdue that the footballing legend finally has his own line.

Teaming up with Italian eyewear creator Safilo, Beckham has put his name to a broad range of frames, including sunglasses and prescription glasses. The deal will last for 10 years, with the former England captain taking a leading role in the creative process.

"I only work with the best," Beckham told Highsnobiety at a launch event in Milan. "Safilo has a long history of creating high-quality eyewear brands. I wear sunglasses all the time and this is a category that I love. So, it’s important to me to work with a partner who cares as much about the design and craftsmanship of the product as I do."

Whether he's sitting in the Royal Box at Wimbledon or getting into his car on the streets of Los Angeles, D-Beck seems to find the right eyewear for every occasion. The inaugural collection has all types and sizes of sunglasses, from aviators to round shapes with everything else in between. There's a retro feel throughout — the acetate frames have been expertly crafted with keen attention to detail — while the influence of Beckham's style icons, namely Steve McQueen, is readily felt.
