While Danner has quite a reputation for waterproof boots that perform, when temperatures dip sometimes even the thickest of socks won’t keep those digits warm.

Earlier this year, we put Danner’s new Weatherized Collection to the test in the rugged and unforgiving landscapes of Iceland. Travelling through the “land of fire and ice” - as the famously frozen volcanic island is known - it was as if the weather changed at every corner. Whether wind, snow or rain, the common thread was the harshness of it all, and the reality of traversing these conditions in freezing temperatures. The elements were intense at every stop.

But that didn’t hold us back though. Equipped with Danner’s Raptor 650 and Mountain 600 Weatherized, our feet stayed warm and dry while hiking to frigid waterfalls, traversing ancient glaciers and contesting the icy seas.

Thanks to PrimaLoft insulation, our feet were extra toasty when the outdoors demanded it, all while providing the same waterproof and rugged protection that Danner’s known for.

What makes Danner’s cold weather Raptor 650 boot truly standout is its tough-yet-light Vibram SPE midsole which is twice as durable as standard EVA, and its Vibram Escape outsole offering unparalleled traction on the wet or icy surfaces we encountered in Iceland’s Golden Circle.

Performance and warmth aside, it’s a looker, too. “With the new Raptor 650 in particular, we wanted to add a bit more style to create one truly weatherproof, fully functional, go-to boot for winter conditions,” explains Danner Senior Marketing Manager Will Pennartz.

Rounding out the collection is an insulated version of Danner’s award-winning Mountain 600 hiker, with an added 200G PrimaLoft insulation layer, called the Mountain 600 Weatherized.

Whether you’re tackling the Icelandic countryside or going out on the town in Reykjavik - or simply going outside in another similarly frozen country or city - Danner is now a cold-weather brand to have on your radar.

The new Raptor 650 retails at $240 with two colorways each for both men and women, and the Mountain 600 Weatherized at $220 with two colors for men and one for women. Check out the lookbook above and shop the collection now.
