Every wellness routine deserves a custom fitness plan — one that has you excited to get off of the couch and to the gym.

While beginning one’s fitness journey is no doubt invigorating, some people may find it difficult to keep a consistent schedule throughout time. But that could all change simply by introducing a dynamic new workout to your routine.

Our recommendation for a high-energy, full-body workout that can be done in under an hour? Look no further than The Cut, Equinox’s signature boxing class that combines cardio work and strength training into a 45-minute class that’s guaranteed to have your entire body on fire.

From influential figures like Bella Hadid often photographed post-boxing class to more intentional cultural moments like the reality show Celebrity Boxing, it’s clear there’s a widespread fascination with the sport. Equinox’s The Cut, however, presents a new-wave approach to boxing by providing an efficient, low-maintenance workout class inspired by an activity that has previously been considered somewhat inaccessible due to necessary equipment.

But this cardio-forward boxing workout requires no bags, no wraps, and no ring. As part of the Equinox x American Express Platinum Series, Platinum Card® Members were offered a rare opportunity to experience The Cut 1,100 feet above Manhattan at SUMMIT One Vanderbilt—an immersive, multisensory experience atop Midtown Manhattan’s tallest skyscraper.

Scheduled just before dawn, the event proved to be an unparalleled experience as the skyline and sunrise reflected off 30,375 square feet of mirrors, inspiring dozens of guests to unlock a new level of strength within. Matching The Cut’s radical approach to working out, this event was celebrated as the first-ever fitness event to be hosted inside the iconic space.

Led by Equinox instructors Christopher Howard, Abbey Hunt, and Michael Clark, participants joined in on a slightly modified version of the class which did without the light hand weights. In an uninterrupted 45-minutes of flurrying kickboxing sequences, the workout introduced classic moves, which ranged from four to six motions, including a jab, cross, uppercut, hook, kick, and turn.

Once the class ended, guests were invited to explore the exhibits, including a room with hundreds of reflective, floating spheres and glass skyboxes that float above Madison Avenue. The entire SUMMIT One Vanderbilt experience was designed by Kenzo Digital, an artist who specializes in creating mind-bending and emotionally powerful stories through physical spaces. There’s even an art installation, Clouds, by renowned Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama.

As guests finished touring SUMMIT, they exuded a uniform sense of accomplishment from an early morning workout. The intensity of The Cut’s custom workout paired with a breathtaking view of New York City left participants feeling inspired to reimagine their fitness routines, making it safe to say that the buzz surrounding boxing won’t die down anytime soon.
