Conor McGregor Promises to Beat Floyd Mayweather in "Inevitable Rematch"
Conor McGregor has vowed to beat Floyd Mayweather in an inevitable rematch. The MMA fighter and boxer made the proclamation after Mike Tyson recently praised him for his match against Mayweather, which took place in August of 2017.
"It's a spectacle, but listen, this is where it's not a spectacle," Tyson said on his podcast. "He never really had a boxing match in his life, right? ... He went 10 rounds with the greatest fighter of the last 100 years of boxing. ... He went 10 rounds, scored punches on the greatest fighter in the last 100 years. Did he accomplish something? ... Look at what he had to fight against and look what he did when he fought against him."
After becoming aware of the comments from the boxing legend, McGregor took to Twitter to insist he'll get the better of Mayweather the next time around.
"Thank you Mike," he began. "And just know that for the inevitable rematch, with the knowledge I now hold of Floyd's style, plus under the tutelage of my old school boxing coach, I will crack the puzzle, and I will beat Floyd. I promise my life on it."
McGregor went ten rounds with Mayweather in his pro boxing debut at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on August 26, 2017. He ultimately suffered a tenth round TKO at the hands of Mayweather in what was referred to as "The Money Fight" and "The Biggest Fight in Combat Sports History." Even in defeat, the Irish fighter was praised for his efforts against arguably the greatest boxer ever.
At this time, there has been no confirmation of a rematch between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather.
