CLOT & adidas Ultra-Textural Shoe Of the Summer Just Got Breezier
It doesn't get any more summertime than an adidas Gazelle sneaker done up like an espadrille. Add in a new colorway shaped by the ocean breeze and CLOT's latest adidas collab may be a contender for shoe of the summer.
First released in June 2024, the adidas by CLOT Gazelle combined adidas's increasingly popular Gazelle sneaker style with the Euro-summer ethos of a good espadrille.
Expertly woven espadrille stitching (done by a traditional espadrille stitching machine) attaches the suede and textile upper to the molded outsole of the CLOT's reconceptualized Gazelle.
The roped bottom is supported by a thicker rubber sole, making the shoe a bit more durable than some other espadrille makes.
This new release sees the seasonally fitting, sandy-hued shoe accented with azure shades, including the shoe's Three-stripe embroidered beading, which now gleams blue like the ocean. Surf's up!
Stitching on the laces, tongue and heel also brings in some blue, offering further aquatic flair to the already fetching design.
The craftsmanship of an espadrille mixed with the soft suede upper of the Gazelle is a collision of worlds that just works.
From the adidas Superstar to tiger print timbs, Chen does his best work giving classic shoes a fresh perspective. And this latest drop only elevates a growing reign of prominence for the Gazelle.
Known by some as the plumper version of the adidas Samba, the Gazelle sneaker was already having its moment in the sun, steadily climbing the ranks of popularity digitally and IRL, developing its own crew of die-hard supporters willing to throw down about why the Gazelle is the superior low-top.
The Gazelle has not quite reached Samba-era dominance, but collaborations such as this charmingly harmonious CLOT tie-in only fuel the sneaker's steady rise to the top.
