From Spike Lee to Adam Sandler, The Most Unlikely Badge In Moments
If you thought the Stone Island hysteria had peaked when Drake got a necklace with the brand's compass logo created from gold and diamonds — you were mistaken.
The Italian label's compass logo has continued to be a massive point of intrigue, whether that be from the Instagram account Stone Island Patch photoshopping it to everyone from Chewbacca to Shakespear or @badge_is_in on Twitter rating people's efforts at ensuring that everyone can see the Stone Island badge on their left arm, leg, hat (or all three).
Getting the badge in is becoming something of a cultural phenomenon.
It's all linked back to the Italian label's long history. Having first been a central brand for the Paninaros subculture in Italy, the label was famously picked up by football fans in the North of England not wanting to wear their team's colors so that they can avoid police detection. It became part of the uniform of football casuals in the 90s, who switched out their team's crest for branding like the Stone Island badge.
Since then, it has continued to have strong links with the UK's working classes going on to be worn by Britpop bands and, most recently, by the UK rap scene. Today, it's made seeing musicians like Dave, SL, or Skepta in a Stoney commonplace.
But, largely thanks to Drake's big co-signs for the brand and collaborations with the likes of Supreme, getting the badge in has found worldwide appeal beyond football and British lad culture. Everyone has been getting in on the act — even Adam Sandler.
Whether or not you think this is ruining it for British football fans, there's no denying that (especially for Brits) you have to crack a smile when you see some of the big stars below wearing the label.

For all of her worldwide success, it's easy to forget that Dual Lipa was born in London so unlikely to be a newbie to the power of the sacred badge. And it shows as the singer managed to create a double badge moment in Portofino by matching a mesh vest with pink cargo pants from Stone Island.
Adam Sandler
The unlikely top trending celebrity style star of 2021 and 2022 has been getting in on the action.
A black Stoney jacket was thrown over a pink floral polo shirt with beige chinos and a chunky pair of orange Hoka sneakers to create the type of mismatched casual ensemble that has gotten Sandler to become bonafide style inspo. Those ensembles would normally consist of "you mad?" meme t-shirts or adidas basketball shorts but we recently saw him wearing Off-White™ sweatpants, a Paliskates hoodie, and wearing Stone Island is taking things to the next level.
Spike Lee
There's one big thing that American director Spike Lee and Stone Island have in common, and that's not being scared of going big with colors.
No matter what the occasion is, you can usually trust Lee to bring an eye-catching ensemble to the red carpet with some gold sneakers or maybe a bright pink suit. So, it's not surprising that he was tempted by the orange nylon of this Stoney jacket for the world premiere of Chi-Raq (2015).
Steven Spielberg
A classic moment that has been reposted on practically every archive Stone Island seller's Instagram account. This classic picture of Spielberg and Leonardo DiCaprio was taken behind the scenes from the filming of Catch Me If You Can (2002).
Jack Harlow
The moment that the UK truly fell in love with Jack Harlow was when he was stood in the streets of London subtly twisting his body to the side so that his badge could be seen in a photo.
A long-time enthusiast of the brand, reports have been coming out of him and the aforementioned Dua Lipa dating, so maybe we're on course to see matching his and her Stone Island outfits.
Jay Z
And finally, the rapper who was rocking Stone Island way before Drake had laid eyes on its compass logo. Taken in the early days of his career in 1997 during a visit to London, Jay Z might have been inspired by some casuals he spotted on an away day to buy this number.
This picture feels like something Stone Island Patch would create but I can promise you that it is real.
