Cary Fukunaga has been chosen to helm the 25th James Bond movie, The Guardian reports.

In a statement released earlier today, Bond producers confirmed that Fukunaga would be taking over from Danny Boyle, who left the project due to "creative differences" in August.

“We are delighted to be working with Cary," producers Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli said. "His versatility and innovation make him an excellent choice for our next James Bond adventure.”

Fukunaga's style should lend itself well to the grittier nature of 21st-century Bond. Previously, he has directed projects such as True Detective and Beasts of No Nation. His most recent venture, Maniac a series that explores the surreal side effects of a medical trial, starring Jonah Hill and Emma Stone — debuts on Netflix tomorrow.

Filming on Bond 25 will start in March 2019, with the movie slated for release on Valentine's Day 2020.
