No matter how many times we see it done, our appetite for masterful reworkings of workwear classics never seems to falter — and that's where Carhartt WIP excels.

For the spring/summer '23 season, however, the label is enjoying a particularly strong hot streak. The collection was first teased through a lookbook that, if your feed is anything like mine, was immediately everywhere on Instagram. Later, the label built even more excitement by revisiting its most iconic pieces.

Now, Carhartt WIP is hitting the trails to show us more of what its SS23 collection has in store.

Shot by Gianluca Normanno, the quintessential American brand took a trip over to the volcanic expanses of Mount Etna, Sicily to do some exploring. The final result is photographs featuring incredible landscapes, the type of which we're more used to seeing in and wander's idyllic lookbooks.

But beyond the mountainous background and deep black volcanic ash, there's something else to focus on: Carhartt WIP's trail collection.

Presenting the label at its most utilitarian, the selection includes updated versions of its most popular pieces as well as new designs such as the Council Pant, a lightweight canvas take on its workwear trousers.

Elsewhere you can find cargo pants, ripstop cotton jackets, a bottle holder, and a host of other practical wares complete with 3D pockets and reflective details. Plus, there's a new selection of its ever-popular sweats in hazy hues inspired by the colors of lumen flower prints.

Granted this might not have the technical specs of a GORE-TEX-laden Arc'teryx collection, but Carhartt WIP is certainly getting its gorp on.
