The BET Awards (Black Entertainment Television Awards) took place at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles last night and 2019's celebration was stacked with huge performances, big wins, and emotional speeches.

Nipsey Hussle, who tragically passed away earlier this year following a shooting outside his Marathon clothing store in LA, was remembered in speeches and tribute performances from YG, DJ Khaled and more. He was also posthumously awarded the Humanitarian Award for his revolutionary contribution to music and his local community.

Cardi B opened the show with "Press"

Offset performed alongside Cardi in a fierce opening performance that incorporated their collaborative track, "Clout." Watch above.

Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus performed "Old Town Road"

The other major performance of the night was also a collab, this time from Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus who brought the wild west in a big way for a rendition of "Old Town Road," complete with a saloon bar scene and neon yellow cowboy ’fit.

Nipsey Hussle won Humanitarian Award & was honored by YG, John Legend, DJ Khaled & more

The late Nipsey Hussle was honored in many ways throughout the night, winning two posthumous awards — the Humanitarian Award and Best Male Hip-Hop Artist — and was paid tribute to in a number of speeches. The Humanitarian Award was collected by his family who delivered their own touching speeches, while YG, John Legend, DJ Khaled, Mustard, and Marsha Ambrosius remembered him during performances of "Real Big," "Last Time That I Checked," and "Higher."

Cardi B's Invasion of Privacy won Album of the Year

Cardi scooped up Album of the Year, beating competition from Meek Mill, The Carters, and Travis Scott.

Childish Gambino scored Video of the Year for "This is America"

Childish Gambino won best video with "This is America," which was also our favorite music video last year, beating The Carters'"Apeshit," Drake's "Nice for What," and other major contenders. Revisit the video above.

Travis Scott, Migos, Beyoncé, Stephen Curry, Serena Williams all won awards too

Scott and Drake took home a Best Collaboration trophy for "Sicko Mode." Migos were dubbed Best Group and Bey bagged Best Female R&B artist. Stephen Curry and Serena Williams won sportsman and sportswoman of the year awards. Find the full list of winners here.
