A$AP Ferg Is Still Part of the A$AP Mob... According to A$AP Ferg
There's been trouble in paradise for the A$AP Mob for a while. Following rumors that he was excommunicated from the hip hop collective, A$AP Ferg wants to make one thing clear: he is still, and forever will be, a member of the A$AP Mob.
The Harlem rapper addressed his rumored departure in a recent interview with Genius. "That could go without being said. You can't kick me out of something I helped build," he explained, referring to himself as the group's founding member. "I brought millions and millions of dollars and fed families through my voice and my ideas … I bring equity into the brand. I mean, that’s like the carpenter. You can't kick the carpenter out and expect for the house to have a roof."
He went on to compare Mob membership to gang affiliation. "I don’t think there’s no breaking up of the Mob. It’s like, once you’re in the Mob, you can't get out," he said. "This is blood in, blood out ... The different families, they war with each other and shit, because one mob member leave and then they build they own shit and then it becomes a thing. But you can never get out of the mob. So that’s not even a thing."
Ferg also denied the rift last month in his Monica-assisted track "Big A$AP" from his newly released Floor Seats II album, rapping "The propaganda bring you up to bring you back down / How you go and kick a leader of ASAP out?/I keep my foot on these n***as neck until they pass out."'
Last month, several members of the New York-based hip-hop collective announced that Ferg was no longer part of the crew. Founding members A$AP Illz and Bari started a public vendetta against Ferg, announcing he was out of the Mob. However, A$AP Nast spoke out to say this shouldn't be believed. "THE TRAP LORD WAS NOT AND WILL NOT BE KICKED OUT OF A$AP FALSE NEWS EVERYBODY GO HOME NOW," he wrote on Twitter. He continued by calling the public statements of Illz and Bari "extremely embarrassing and unnecessary."
It all began on Monday, August 31, when A$AP Illz, a founding member of the Mob, accused Ferg of stealing ideas from his crew members and claimed his affiliation with the Mob was over. In a series of Instagram stories, Illz broke down the ongoing situation between Ferg and A$AP Mob.
"Ferg ain't ASAP NO MORE sorry guys," Illz began. "That nigga burnt out, songs dumb trash mr anthem cant get right." He continued, “Niggas be your mans to try to pick your brain & steal not to be loyal and real.” Illz then shared a screenshot of messages with Ferg, where the texted him (apparently in response to his Instagram posts) "Call me / Stop playing with me."
A$AP Bari, another founding member of the collective, further confirmed the news via his Instagram account. The extremely controversial mob member stated, “He said what he said. @asvpxillz started ASAP MOB SO [Hail] ASAP Illz” – at this point, it's interesting to note that Bari plead guilty to sexual assault back in 2017, but wasn't ostracized from the group.
Illz followed the endorsement from Bari with another post, writing, "They Been calling me The Golden Child for years now and it’s not for no reason…..I been him. Damn right I ain’t no yes man but you n****s don’t respect that s**t. y’all rather have a n***a who’s not even half way on my level around just cause he a Yes man and do whatever you want at the snap of your fingers sit goofy."
A$AP Mob was founded in 2007 by the late A$AP Yams, Illz, and Bari. A$AP Rocky and Ferg joined the group in 2008. Since Illz announced that the "Plain Jane" rapper would no longer be a part of the group, Rocky and other members of the Mob have yet to speak out publicly. Furthermore, A$AP Ferg has not yet changed his name or denounced his member status.
Following the Mob's revelation, many fans took to Twitter to give their two cents on the A$AP Mob rift. Many supporting Ferg even if he severed ties with the Mob, and calling out the crew for canceling Ferg while still supporting Bari despite the ugly sexual assault he has on his record.
