Everything to Know: adidas YEEZY's August 2023 Sneaker Sale
2023's first much-hyped adidas YEEZY sneaker sale garnered big bucks for both adidas and Kanye "Ye" West, YEEZY's distant, disgraced founder, but that was only the beginning: the second official adidas YEEZY sale is officially beginning in early August.
On July 28, after months of speculation, adidas finally confirmed its second sale of leftover YEEZY shoes would first release on August 2 and 3 before continuing to drop "in phases" over the course of August.
We've already listed out the details of adidas YEEZY's August 2023 sale but read on for what's dropping, where, and how to cop.
Prior to official word from adidas, mockups made their rounds across social media that admittedly looked similar to the one that adidas published prior to the early summer YEEZY sale so it was fairly convincing, at least from a visuals standpoint.
Because there have long been teasers of various unreleased YEEZY sneakers and SLIDE sandals floating around online, it was feasible that sneaker leakers simply compiled images of all the ones that haven't yet seen the light of day or even pulled imagery from adidas' backend (don't put it past these people...) to create these unconfirmed lists.
adidas first hinted that it was weighing plans to sell off its leftover YEEZY sneaker stock across multiple release dates through 2023 when it confirmed the original adidas YEEZY drop for May 31, 2023.
An adidas representative declined to comment on future release dates when reached by Highsnobiety in June.
By late July, however, sneaker leakers estimated that the second adidas YEEZY sale would go live in August 2023.
adidas took its time to officially confirm a release date beyond that initial drop in May but, to the leakers' credit, it would be appropriate that a second YEEZY sneaker sale would quickly follow adidas' first one.
Some enterprising sneakerheads even began compiling lists of the sneakers they thought would release in the next adidas YEEZY shoe sale.
Their picks included a host of muted adidas YEEZY BOOST 350 and 700 sneakers — including a sought-after "Utility Black" colorway for the latter — and some vivid marble-patterned YEEZY SLIDE sandals.
To get specific, the sneakers that adidas is dropping in August 2023 include the YEEZY BOOST 350 in "Static" and "Granite," the YEEZY BOOST 450 in "Stone Grey," the YEEZY BOOST 700 in "Utility Black," the YEEZY Foam Runner in "Carbon," "Desert Sand," and "Stone Taupe," and YEEZY SLIDES in "Granite" and "Slate Grey."
No marble YEEZY SLIDES have been revealed by adidas thus far, however.
YEEZY shoes dropped on adidas' YEEZY website, CONFIRMED app, and select stockists on August 2 before seeing wider rollout throughout the month with additional styles added.
The first YEEZY release of August 2023 encompassed the adidas YEEZY BOOST 350 V2 in "Bone," the adidas YZY FOAM RNR in "Carbon," adidas YEEZY 500 in "Bone White," and an adidas YEEZY 450 SLIDE that immediately sold out.
A couple other shoes released on August 4, including an adidas YEEZY QNTM in a new monochrome colorway and the adidas 700 V3 in "Copper Fade."
All of the shoes arrived on adidas' CONFIRMED app August 2 for raffles that ended August 7, with winners selected August 8.
Next, on August 9, adidas prepped a new selection of YEEZYs, including new colorways of the SLIDE sandal and KNIT RUNNER alongside the never-before-seen adidas YEEZY 500 BOOT.
The subsequent August 16 drop included the YEEZY QNTM in High-Res Orange, YEEZY 950 Boots in Pirate Black, and the much awaited return of the YEEZY BOOST 700 "Wave Runner" in its OG colorway, plus a Utility Black version.
On August 23, adidas rolled out another prime selection of YEEZY shoe restocks, including the YEEZY SLIDE in "Granite," all-white YEEZY 700, and, most notably, the adidas YEEZY BOOST 350 in "Zebra.
Even if the exact shoes set to release on each day remains uncertain, there's precedent for many of the rumored YEEZY colorways to actually see the light of day at future adidas YEEZY drops or even arrive as part of the staggered August rollout.
For instance, it makes sense that, even though the marble YEEZY SLIDES haven't been confirmed by adidas, they may still be dropping in this sale or perhaps even the next one.
These rumors also posited that Foot Locker would be selling at least some of the shoes from the adidas YEEZY restock.
At the time, a representative for Foot Locker would neither confirm nor deny the rumors to Highsnobiety but, now that it's August and there aren't any YEEZY shoes on Foot Locker's site or social media pages, it appears that they may have been unfounded.
For now, the only confirmed adidas YEEZY sale stores are Bodega, Sneakersnstuff, END., and Extra Butter.
Given that adidas' debut YEEZY sale scored over $565 million, future official YEEZY sales are all but inevitable.
Note that though adidas promised to donate some of those proceeds to anti-hate charities like the Anti-Defamation League, it did keep some of the profits and distributed a separate chunk to Ye.
Meanwhile, Ye is no longer affiliated with adidas and adidas YEEZY is DOA going forward, though Ye is still in charge of his own YEEZY brand (we've argued that the adidas YEEZY sneakers have since eclipsed Ye).
But assuming that Ye's prior adidas YEEZY deal remains in place for these final few adidas YEEZY drops, he reportedly took home nearly $15m from the adidas sale, which he'll presumably utilize to continue buying shoulder pads, MMA shin guards, Sand Sock "shoes", and his wife's bizarre outfits while preparing for the launch of the YEEZY "store" in the near future — not coincidentally, Ye's new YEEZY HQ is located just a few doors down from adidas' Los Angeles flagship retail space.
